Delicately drawn lines and pale coloured patches are floating on the surface of paintings. Oval and rectangular forms are emerging in different sizes and at times are incomplete, just suggestive enough of these forms, and at other times overlapping each other as if repeating itself in spatial successions.

An atom is nothing but an assumption for our convenience. It does not exist in reality. What is present is nothing but an idiosyncratic feature in the same physical continuity. Atoms are the conceptualization of the spirit isolating matter from all attributes of beings. In fact, the spirit makes all beings remain in a complete, independent four-dimensional world. As if surrounded by a myriad of mirrors, what makes a reflection by these singular atoms is none other than a sensuous illusion. (Gaston de Pawlowski, Travel to a Four-dimensional Space, ed. Images Modernes, 1923, pp. 104–105)

Criticisms
Lee Kang Wook's paintings are ornamental and, when lit, glitter brightly like gems. His painting is tender and slightly pale in its pastel tones, provoking a feeling of coldness. The sensuous, sinuous lines congregate at one point and then spread out all of a sudden. Its imagery as a whole is tidy, orderly and urban, yet also feminine.

It is a special moment to write the forward to an artist’s very first exhibition. It feels like giving a newborn child its name, while at the same time being a mediator in the sense of presenting the artist’s works to the world for the first time by interpreting their visual images in words. As there are no existing references, it allows the writer to have a free hand, yet the responsibility is also heavy.
